The Homefront: Musical Memories from WWII

2015-03-01 A Winter Medley – Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band

There’s a primal reaction when you hear an air raid siren. Especially when that siren is right behind your head. Even after practicing and performing this piece, I still get that gut-punch reaction every time. It is also my favorite piece from our recent band concert. The Homefront was written by James Christiansen, and consists of a medley of songs including:
It’s Been a Long, Long Time
Thanks for the Memory
Bell Bottom Trousers
(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover
I’ll Be Seeing You
Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)
Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!
