A Rocket in Flight

Saturn V in progress
The first pieces from the first bag.
Recently, I decided to purchase the Lego Saturn V set. This is a nearly 2000-piece model, to scale, with separate stages. I’d seen a couple of videos of people putting it together, which took them about 4-6 hours (I did it in 2 hours).

The finished model is almost a meter long and is fairly heavy. However, after looking at it for a few weeks, I thought that it deserved more than that.

Since it comes in stages, and is a model of a flying machine, it seemed only appropriate to display it as such. So, with that in mind, I pulled out some fishing line, drove in a few nails, and hung it between my kitchen and dining room (where I won’t run into it). I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
